WATCH: Ricky Gervais Previews Second Season of His HBO Series
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais is just about everywhere these days. He just did a stand-up special for HBO, and he’s hosting the Golden Globes for the second year in a row. And on January 14, the second season of his HBO animated series, The Ricky Gervais Show, will premiere.
The comedy is a cartoon adaptation of Gervais’ hugely successful podcasts featuring himself, Extras and Office co-creator Stephen Merchant, and their deeply eccentric pal, Karl Pilkington, whom Gervais mocks mercilessly.
The animated identities of the trio are quite funny: Gervais looks a bit like Fred Flintstone; Karl Pilkington, with his round head, is pure Charlie Brown; and lanky Stephen Merchant is like Dexter the boy genius all grown-up and bleached-blond.
“Episode 1 is an absolute doozy,” Gervais says in this short Season 2 preview, which you can watch below.
