Just Call Him ‘Sir’ Simon Cowell?
Simon Cowell
It looks like Simon Cowell may be next in line to receive a knighthood title. According to The Daily Mail, the 51-year-old music exec and successful TV producer apparently tops Queen Elizabeth‘s New Year’s Honors List. All contenders will be announced on December 31.
Back in October, The Apprentice UK‘s Lord Alan Sugar called for Cowell to be christened a lord, as “Simon is a great ambassador for Britain,” he said.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown hailed Cowell’s contributions to the world of music and entertainment earlier this year. He praised The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent magnate for his efforts with Helping Haiti, the charity single remake of R.E.M.‘s “Everybody Hurts” featuring Susan Boyle, Take That, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, and more. All proceeds made from the chart-topping tune went toward those affected by the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti in January.
“I never did all this to get a knighthood,” Cowell said last year in regards of his multi-million dollar empire and other humanitarian efforts. “I am very lucky to do what I do and feel privileged.”
Do you think Simon Cowell deserves to be knighted?
