John Barrowman Wins ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Holiday Special
We already know that John Barrowman can strut his stuff on a theater stage. But this Christmas, the 43-year-old Torchwood and Doctor Who star showcased his ballroom dancing skills when he was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing‘s one-off holiday special, The BBC reports.
Barrowman and dance partner Kristina Rihanoff dazzled judges with their foxy quickstep number to best EastEnders soap star June Brown, Scottish actress Ronni Ancona, English television personality Fern Britton, and Business Secretary Vince Cable. The experience was especially memorable for Barrowman since he’s a longtime fan of the UK television dance competition. In October, he revealed to The Sun that he’d be donning his dancing shoes for the program.
“If I had time I’d love to do the entire series – that would be brilliant. I absolutely had a ball,” he said.
Judge Len Goodman also raved about Barrowman’s dance floor prowess.
“You jingled my bells out there,” he exclaimed. “You were cooking on gas. You were bubbling up like the brussels sprouts at Christmas lunchtime – a fabulous dance.”
Strictly Come Dancing‘s U.S. counterpart is the mega-popular Dancing with the Stars on ABC, which just finished its eleventh season in November. Both Goodman and Bruno Tonioli pull double duty as judges on both the UK and American versions.
