Jessie J Will Be Big in 2011, Brit Awards Say

She’s drawn comparisons to Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Pink. And Justin Timberlake calls her “the best singer in the world right now.” It’s no surprise that Jessie J is hotly tipped for gargantuan success in 2011: BBC News reports that she’s won the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice prize for the act most likely to blow up in the new year. (Previous winners have included Ellie Goulding, Florence and the Machine, and Adele.)
Like her countryman Taio Cruz, Jessie J (born Jessica Cornish) has made her name as a songwriter for other artists. She co-wrote Miley Cyrus‘ breakthrough club jam “Party in the U.S.A.,” and she’s reportedly penning Britney Spears‘ latest comeback single. Now she’s ready to hit the mainstream as a solo artist. Her sexually frank single, “Do It Like a Dude,” has already made the top 30 in the UK. Watch the NSFW video for it below:
