James Buckley may be best known for portraying the sarcastic and sex-obsessed Jay Cartwright on BBC America’s The Inbetweeners, but the 23-year-old actor is also a budding musician. As a massive fan of Britpop, Buckley played guitar in his own Britpop-inspired band called London Waiting. The guy also has several tattoos showcasing his love of Oasis.
According to The Sun, Buckley has the chance to embrace his inspiring rock ways once again. He’s set to join Ocean Colour Scene‘s Steve Cradock on his forthcoming solo album, Last Days of the Old World.
“James has been going to see [Paul] Weller, Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, Blur, Primal Scream, and all the other great Britpop bands for years,” a source revealed. “He was at the Royal Albert Hall in October to see OCS’s 21st anniversary gig. He got talking to Steve, who is a massive fan of ‘The Inbetweeners’, and he offered him the chance to play. He agreed on the spot and time has been booked in the studio.”
Last Days of the Old World, Cradock’s follow up to 2009′s The Kundalini Target, arrives in the UK on February 14. Fans can download the title track, also featuring Cradock’s longtime friend and collaborator Paul Weller, for free via Cradock’s official site
