For her role as fallen country singer Kelly Canter in Country Strong, Gwyneth Paltrow steps into the arena that’s more familiar to her husband, Coldplay‘s Chris Martin. Gwynnie’s singing is quite impressive and she totally nailed her performance at the 2010 Country Music Awards last month. I guess her and Martin’s two kids — six-year-old Apple and four-year-old Moses — apparently think their Oscar-winning Mom is a famous singer, too.
But what about Martin? Would Paltrow’s chart-topping hubby ever entertain the idea of switching over to her side of acting? Not likely Paltrow said in a recent interview with MTV. But the 38-year-old actress only had kind words for her Grammy-winning man’s supposed acting chops.
“I don’t think he would ever do it, but he’s genius,” Paltrow said. “Did you ever see him in ‘Extras’?”
In 2006, Martin appeared on Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant‘s comedy, Extras, where he spoofed a bigheaded rock star starring in a charity TV commercial.
Coldplay is currently in the studio working on their forthcoming ‘concept’ album with famed producer Brian Eno. He, guitarist Jonny Buckland and Eno all sat down with BBC Radio 6 recently to discuss how things are shaping up.
Do you think Chris Martin should give acting another go or stick with singing?
