UPDATED: Queen Elizabeth Is Now On Facebook
USA Today reports that The British Monarchy's Facebook page officially debuted Monday, where The Queen & Co. have, so far, more than 135,000 fans who "like" them.
As previously shared yesterday, this will be a corporate account relating to Her Majesty, 84, and the British Monarchy's various activities, and plenty of photos and videos will be included.
"The decision went right up to the Queen," an anonymous royal official said Sunday. "If you are going to have an online presence in 2010, you just have to be on Facebook."
Facebook users are allowed to leave comments and other messages for Buckingham Palace, but the Queen will not be accepting friend requests. Still, the decision to go this route is pretty hip, don't you think?
In the last couple of years, the Royal Family has embraced some of the world's most popular social mediums. They launched their own YouTube channel in 2007 and joined Twitter two years later. The Royals also have their own Flickr photo account.
