New Trailer: Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender in ‘Jane Eyre’
Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender
Australian actress Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right) will play opposite German-born actor Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds) in Cary Fukunaga‘s new period drama based on Charlotte Brontë most prized novel, Jane Eyre.
English writer and director Moira Buffini is behind the script, which draws heavily from the 18th-century novel’s Gothic undertones for more of a horror-thriller twist. Her adaptation also earned a spot on the 2008 Brit List as one of the industry’s best unproduced screenplays.
Wasikowska will portray the 1847 classic’s main character while Fassbender has been cast as Edward Rochester. A handful of other Brits like Dame Judi Dench (Mrs. Fairfax), Jamie Bell (St. John Rivers), Imogen Poots (Blanche Ingram), and Sally Hawkins (Mrs. Reed) will also star.
Jane Eyre is a shared co-production with BBC Films, Focus Features and Ruby Films. It’s set to hit theaters nationwide March 11, 2011. (MTV)
