Gillian McKeith Faints on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
For the somewhat snarky and sweet nutritionist and former host of BBC America's You Are What You Eat, perhaps the sickening task of eating bull's tongue and crocodile eyes has been too much?
During Sunday night's episode (November 21), McKeith fainted live on television after learning that call-in votes landed her in a record seventh "bushtucker trial" — a somewhat nasty challenge usually involving a weird collection of creepy-crawly things.
According to The Daily Telegraph, it was the third time McKeith fainted on the show. Medical professionals quickly came to her rescue with an oxygen mask, while Dom Joly, the British comedian behind BBC1's World Shut Your Mouth, offered harsh words for TV viewers; "You should be ashamed of yourselves," he said of those who asked for McKeith's participation.
Later, show hosts Anthony "Ant" McPartlin and Declan "Dec" Donnelly announced that all audience members who nominated McKeith would be properly refunded.
In the clip below, a noticeably shaky Gillian McKeith bravely steps up to the plate:
As if McKeith's fainting spell wasn't enough, last night's episode included another surprise. The Sun reports that English actor Nigel Havers packed his bags to become the first celeb to ditch the show this season.
"Nigel just said he'd had enough and it wasn't what he thought it would be like," a source revealed. "He said he was fed up with the inane chatter from some of the others and just wanted to go home."
