After bringing his Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal to UK fans earlier this month, Russell Brand has arrived Stateside to chat about his second memoir. Yesterday the cheeky actor and comedian stopped by The Today Show and The View to open up about the book, his new movies, and more about his life and love with pop singer Katy Perry
Talking with Today Show host Meredith Vieira, Brand called Booky Wook 2 "a love story about how through falling in love and romance you can conquer seemingly insurmountable addictions and carnal appetites." Brand was very candid about his past sexual exploits and rampant drug use in his first autobiography, My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up. Now, the former Brit bad boy leads a much more conservative, albeit in a celebrity world, life.
He also addressed the countless rumors surrounding the location of his and Perry's impending nuptials. "I've tried to spread different rumors so that on the day we can sneak off," Brand explained. The latest rumor, out today, is that the two will marry in a Victorian wedding.
Also on The View he recounted his September bust up with the paparazzi, which lead to his subsequent arrest. He stated that he was only doing his duty in protecting Perry, who was being accosted by an aggressive photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.
And up until meeting his now fiancée, the one-time lothario considered himself a bit of a "sex scientist." But it was her bottle-throwing antics upon their first meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards that truly got sparks flying. "A woman with an arm like that will be useful in a marriage, both defense purposes and erotic," Brand joked about his lady love. Always the card, Russell, always the card.
Next up for Brand is the Julie Taymor-directed film twist on the William Shakespeare classic, The Tempest, also starring Helen Mirren, Alan Cumming, and Felicity Jones. The film hits theaters nationwide on December 10th.
