Trailer: Kate Winslet in HBO’s ‘Mildred Pierce’ Miniseries
HBO has put out the first trailer for their remake of the 1945 Joan Crawford classic Mildred Pierce. This version, directed by I’m Not There‘s Todd Haynes, stars Oscar winner Kate Winslet as Mildred and Evan Rachel Wood as her selfish daughter Veda.
Judging only from the trailer, this looks to be a bit stuffy. Hopefully, the creative team behind this new version remembered that the original Mildred Pierce was also a marvelous campfest with truly memorable one-liners. Here’s the trailer for the 1945 film that won Ms. Crawford her Oscar. Apparently, Ms. Winslet borrowed Joan’s original eyebrows:
