The Good Wife’ Star Archie Panjabi Pulls Off Emmy Upset!
Archie Panjabi – British actress known for East Is East, Bend It Like Beckham, and her role as Maya on BBC AMERICA’s Life On Mars – stunned Emmy prognosticators with a surprise win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Good Wife. The Mad Men ladies – Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss – had been the critics’ picks.
Maybe I simply underestimated Emmy voters: I thought Panjabi’s sexy subtlety would go over the heads of the blue-ribbon panelists. Here’s Archie’s acceptance speech from last night:
In the press room backstage, Panjabi spoke about how her early roles in England often centered around her Indian ethnicity. However, in her role on The Good Wife, her character’s background has never been mentioned.
