Has ‘X Factor’ Scandal Damaged Simon Cowell’s Credibility?

Simon Cowell has not had a good week in the press after fan uproar over use of auto-tune in last Saturday’s season premiere of his UK show X Factor. Even his former bosses at American Idol have distanced themselves from him, as the New York Times is reporting. Producers at Idol have released a statement: “We have never, nor would we ever, use Auto-Tuning during the American Idol competition.”

What a mess. Cowell, as you may know, is bringing X Factor to the States next fall. And, according to the Hollywood Reporter, he’s already started overhauling his UK series to repair the public-relations damage he has suffered. So I put this question to you: has this scandal damaged his credibility? Will it affect your decision to watch his U.S. show?
