Matt Smith’s Pal, Eddie Redmayne, Won a Tony
Last night, British actor Eddie Redmayne won Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role opposite Alfred Molina in Red. FYI: Redmayne is good buds with Doctor Who star Matt Smith, and Smith went to see Red when he was doing press here in New York back in April. Maybe his friend’s Tony success will help convince Smith to do that Broadway show he’s always wanted to do. Check out my interview with Matt in which he talks about his New York theater dreams:
Also fellow Brit Catherine Zeta-Jones won the Best Actress in a Musical Tony last night for her leading role in the A Little Night Music revival. The flustered star had her own “Kirstie Alley moment” during her acceptance speech when she acknowledged her husband Michael Douglas: “See that man over there?” she gushed, pointing at her hubby. “He’s a movie star, and I get to sleep with him every night.”
