Sex Pistols Manager Malcolm McLaren Dead

  • Malcolm McLaren, famed manager of The Sex Pistols, died of cancer today in New York at 64. NME, The Guardian, BBC NEWS, The Daily Telegraph, The Times of London, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times are all covering McLaren’s passing. No statement yet from Pistols frontman John Lydon at press time.
  • Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, broke her leg when she slipped and fell near the Prince of Wales’ residence. (Telegraph)
  • The New York Times celebrates fashion icon Florence Welch, a.k.a. the woman behind Florence + the Machine.
  • Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan told NME he’d “set fire” to “every single member” of Britain’s Conservative Tory party. Just imagine if he were an American rock star who said that about Republicans: he’d be plastered all over CNN and pilloried by the likes of Bill O’Reilly. And rightfully so, in my opinion.

His Anglophilia stems from a high school love of Morrissey, whom he calls his "gateway drug" into British culture.
