UK Duo The Ting Tings Nominated For Best New Artist Grammy
Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga dominated last night’s Grammy nominations. Not a shocker. This trio of female solo pop stars has walked away with the lion’s share of this year’s music awards. As a result, UK artists, who had done so well at the Grammys in recent years, went largely unrecognized by the academy last night. However, British pop duo The Ting Tings were nominated for Best New Artist, facing off against Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson, MGMT, and Silversun Pickups. I was initially skeptical of The Ting Tings, but I’ve grown to like them quite a bit. Here’s their biggest hit, “That’s Not My Name” (No. 8 on my Top 50 of songs of 2008):
