Anglo For Your Ear: Garbage’s “Cherry Lips”

Who is the big stupid-head who decided to release the trite “Androgyny” as the first single off of Beautifulgarbage and not the wonderful “Cherry Lips”? Maybe the label thought the pop brilliance of “Cherry Lips” was too jarring to Garbage fans used to dark, moody electronica of Version 2.0 and the grungy grrrl rock of their debut. This is sad: “Cherry Lips” could have been a career-defining hit for the Scottish-led American band.
