Anglo For Your Ear: Fleetwood Mac’s “The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)”

This ain’t the “Go Your Own Way” Fleetwood Mac,this is Peter Green‘s Fleetwood Mac. Before LindseyBuckingham and Stevie Nicks brought theirfolk-pop sensibility to the band and made it amultiplatinum sensation, Fleetwood Mac was purepsychedelic blues. “The Green Manalishi” was a massivehit in the UK in 1970, and it was one of Green’s lastsongs for the band. Battling a serious drug problem, Green decided to leave FleetwoodMac, but, before he departed, he left behind this totallymad, sexual, LSD-fueled classic.

His Anglophilia stems from a high school love of Morrissey, whom he calls his "gateway drug" into British culture.
