I’m dedicating this 1977 hit to Cheryl Cole, who is having a rough time of it these days. Stay strong, girl.
Forget heartache: this song makes my vocal cords ache. The “I just munched on some razorblades” sound has its charm, though. Welsh songstress Bonnie Tyler showed off her trademark smokers’ croak with a string of hits in the ’70s and ’80s, including “Holding Out For a Hero” and the eternal “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.
