Anglo For Your Ear: Shaun Escoffery’s “Space Rider”

The brilliant Shaun Escoffery has amassed a small cult following here in the States in recent years, but he remains largely unknown. It’s a shame because singing just doesn’t get much better than this: on the innovative 2002 dance tune, “Space Rider,” his husky croon manages to suggest both Donny Hathaway and Sam Cooke. How did American radio overlook this?
