Morrissey was a big fan of this band when they emerged in 1987 with the album, George Best. And why not? After The Smiths died, this record was a passing of the baton, featuring literate songwriting from frontman David Gedge, tuneful melodies, and an unapologetic Northern English perspective. “Everyone Thinks He Looks Daft,” the first track from George Best, has all of the above.
