The Housemartins were a band of Christian Marxists who wrote some incredibly fun tunes in the mid-’80s. Here they take you to church – literally – and show that yes, even Jesus freaks can have a sense of humor. And no, you’re not hallucinating: that is a young Fatboy Slim in the front pew. Norman Cook was a member of the band before he re-christened himself a producer/DJ/funk soul brutha.

Also, compare to the original 1985 version from Isley Jasper Isley, which was one of the great soul songs of my childhood.
