Anglo For Your Ear: Girls Aloud’s “Whole Lotta History”
Girls Aloud have made the Guinness Book of World Records: they’ve scored 16 consecutive top ten hits, the most ever by an all-female group in Britain. Not bad for a manufactured, reality-TV outfit that’s only been around five years. Girls Aloud have always been remarkably consistent with their dance tunes, featuring Xenomania‘s mix of rock guitars and electronic beats, but these ladies are also very convincing balladeers. That takes actual vocal ability, and each member gets her chance to shine in “Whole Lotta History” from 2006. As usual, however, Nadine Coyle (Jesse Metcalfe‘s gf) steals the show. If anyone would have solo success in this group, it’s Nadine. So sit your booty down, Cheryl.
