Long before Amy Winehouse was a glimmer in her mother’s bloodshot eye, Helen Shapiro was Britain’s top beehive-sporting Jewish pop idol. According to Wikipedia, Shapiro was only 14 whenthis song was recorded back in 1961, but her deep, rich voice and flirtatious face belied her years.
