Welcome to this week’s Doctor Who’s Day roundup, a sifting of intergalactic stuff and nonsense to find the best gems of Whovian news and fandom from the last week on the internet and in social media.
And we begin this week with the reaction to the news that Jodie Whittaker will be joined in the TARDIS by three friends when Doctor Who returns for its eleventh season in 2018. The season will be comprised of ten 50 minute episodes, with an hour-long season opener, and will introduce Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yasmin, as well as Sharon D Clarke in a recurring role.

Bradley Walsh is perhaps best known to British viewers, as he’s an all-round entertainer and host of the game show The Chase, but also as a villain in The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the star of Law & Order UK, alongside Freema Agyeman, who can probably tell him a thing or two about life aboard the TARDIS:
ITV has his back:

Mandip Gill is a graduate of the youth-oriented soap opera Hollyoaks, having made a big splash with her appearance as as homeless teen Phoebe Jackson:

Tosin Cole is another Hollyoaks star, although Doctor Who is not his first appearance in an enormous sci-fi franchise:

Sharon D. Clarke has a fine resume of West End musical roles, but is best known as the singing nurse Lola Griffin in the BBC’s medical drama Holby City:
The idea of a TARDIS occupied by four people is by no means unprecedented in Doctor Who:

And naturally there has already been a smattering of fan art:
And even a fan-made credit sequence:

Or two:
And it’s fair to say Mark Gatiss and Pearl Mackie are keen:
So exciting! Welcome to Mandip & Tosin. Bradley is both a terrific actor and a lovely man. #doctorwho
